The objective of this study was to evaluate the combination of different trunk section lengths on the accuracy of volume equations for the hybrid Eucalyptus urophylla S.T. Blake x Eucalyptus grandis W. Mill ex Maiden. Data from 70 trees from an 8-year-old experimental plantation were used. Diameters along the trunks were measured at intervals of 0.50 m down to a minimum diameter of 4 cm, allowing the calculation of volumes in sections of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 m in length using the mathematical expressions of Smalian, Huber, and Newton. We concluded that: a) the section size in the tree cubing procedure directly affects the accuracy of individual volume estimates, with larger sections resulting in equations that generate relatively larger errors; b) for sections of the same size, the volume equations adjusted with volume data obtained using the mathematical expressions of Huber, Newton, and Smalian show greater statistical proximity to the actual tree volumes, indicated by higher p-values. However, as the section length increases, in some cases, the volume equations become statistically different from each other, even when calculated using the same mathematical expression.
