Compsus azureipes (Curculionidae: Entiminae), a defoliator of Sclerolobium paniculatum

This is the first register of defoliation caused by Compsus azureipes Hustache in a plantation of taxi-branco (Sclerolobium paniculatum), tree specie for energy purposes. The attacks were verified in Almeirim County, State of Pará, Brazil, in September 2011. It is also the first report of injuries caused by an insect that requires intervention in experimental trials of this specie.
