The objective of this work was to evaluate the potential of Trichoderma isolates to control phytopathogenic fungi of forest importance. The tests were performed with Alternaria sp., Botrytis cinerea, Cylindrocladium candelabrum, Pestalotiopsis sp. and Sclerotium rolfsii. We used Trichoderma spp. collected from soils in Brunópolis, Rio do Sul and Curitibanos in Santa Catarina State, and in São Paulo, SP and from a commercial product (positive control). Pairing culture technique was carried out and evaluations were conducted out through daily measurements. The experimental design was completely randomized, with 5 replications. The area under the disease progress curve and the percentage of inhibition were calculated. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and Tukey´s test at 5% probability. In all treatments, mycelial growth differed from the absolute control, except for the fungus S. rolfsii where only the Curitibanos´ isolate showed inhibition. For the other pathogens, inhibition ranged from 46.8% to 75.5%. Regarding the diameter of the colonies, the inhibition varied from 56.2% to 87.0%. The isolates of the genus Trichoderma have high potential as inhibitors of some phytopathogens species.
