Influence of pre-germination treatments on initial growth of Libidibia ferrea seedlings

The aim of this research was to evaluate the influence of pre-germination treatments on germination and initial seedling growth of Libidibia ferrea. We tested 5 treatments: control; sulfuric acid; water for 24 h; hot water and scarification. We evaluated the percentage of initial growth (%E), speed index (IVE) and mean emergence time (TME). For germination we evaluated the height and stem diameter of the seedlings, number of leaves, leaves, stem and roots dry matter and root/shoot ratio. Sulfuric acid treatment presented higher %E and IVE and lower TME, and it was the treatment that showed the better growth of the plants.Downloads
