The cultivation of the hybrid Pinus elliottii var. elliottii × Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis (PEE × PCH) represents a promising alternative for increasing forest productivity and expanding the adaptability of plantations to new and environmental conditions. Because it is a hybrid with recombinant parental traits, studies are needed to identify the areas most suitable for planting. The aim of this work was to identify suitable areas for experimentation and production of the respective hybrid in the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná. The identification of suitable areas was guided by information on the successful establishment and performance of plantations in Brazil, with the ranges of climatic variables analyzed through multivariate analysis and geographic information systems (GIS). As a result, three planting/experimentation zones were defined for Santa Catarina and two zones for Paraná. This result is relevant in the context of climate change, which impacts agricultural and forested areas with extreme events, including frosts and severe droughts. Knowledge about suitable areas for experimentation and planting will enable the exploration of the hybrid's maximum potential regarding productivity and tolerance to potential environmental stresses.
